I bought a Panasonic EX773EB dvd recorder from a John Lewis store less than a year ago and wanted to warn other buyers about a fault that seems to be a common problem with this make and model. I had only had it about a month or so when it suddenly stopped working and a u80 error appeared. I reset it following instructions in the manual and everything seemed ok for about another month when it done it again. Then it became more frequent until it was happening every other day. A search of the web suggested this is a very common fault with Panasonic EX773EB and even other models so I took it back to the store to complain. I wanted to exchange it for another item which would have cost more than the dvd recorder but they insisted on sending it for repair which could take up to 28 days, I know they are within their rights to do this but I am not at all happy since the product is not even a year old. When I had to return something that stopped working after 8 months from another company they replaced the item. I decided to review the product on their website to warn others since all the reviews were good and that was one reason I decided to buy it in the first place. 48 hours later I received an e-mail informing me my review had been rejected. No good reason was given for this except a list of possible reasons none of which I believe applied to my review. All I did was give it one star, warn of the error and recommend others not to buy it. Obviously John Lewis are worried other buyers will take note of my review and not buy this product. I for one will never buy from John Lewis again.
