I bought a 3 seater settee with a chez and a large chest of drawers from M & S.
The cushions kept slipping off the edge of the sofa when anyone sat on it, making it very uncomfortable. The larger cushion on the chez, slips right over the edge and you end up stuck in the gap it leaves at the back.
I complained. They sent an inspector. Unbelievably he told me, the reason is 'because the base which the cushions sit on, is made of nylon and doesn't hold them in place, and slips because nylon has a slippery surface'.
He told me, that within time and more use, it would 'settle'. I didn't agree. Nylon doesn't 'settle'. Clearly to my mind, that was a manufacturing fault, any fool knows that a nylon surface will cause slippage.
No replacement, no help at all.
The chest of drawers within 8 months, developed a fairly large crack along the top surface. I couldn't be bothered to waste a lot of time to endure some idiot inspector giving me yet another implausible reason as to why it was not faulty.
I would not under any circumstances purchase furnishings again from M&S. They are not cheap and they no longer offer the fine service of the past and are using poor standard manufacturers. Do not buy furniture from M&S.
