“Extremely poor service and basic competency for a car...”

It is difficult to describe how poorly we were treated as customers front he start. As a car brokerage company, AutoEurope clearly has a TERRIBLE grasp on how to provide quality service to their customers.

We were first pushed off to EuropCar for the actual rental which changed last-minute (while we were actually on the plane to Italy) so we did not know that we needed to report to the EuropCar desk instead of the AutoEurope desk.

The next problem was that we got a flat tire while driving. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a small rock in the road that punctured the tire wall. As an experienced traveler, this did not really surprise me... but it was when i looked in the back of the car and realized that they did not provide a Spare Tire! -- What type of rental car company does not provide a spare tire!!

As you can imagine, being halfway between two small towns in the middle of Tuscany at 10:30 at night with no means of getting home that night was a bit of an issue. -- And when i called their roadside assistance, they informed me that they would not send a tow truck until the next day. And that the would not send a taxi until the next day!! Now, i do not like to rant.... but are you kidding me?! That is about the most ridiculous thing i had ever heard.

The story goes on for another 36 hours. The only way we made it home that night was because i happened to know someone in a town 30 minutes away who came and rescued us from the side of the road to take us back to our B&B... without our car.

All in all, i would recommend Never booking through Auto Europe if at all possible. (EuropCar is a pretty bad bet too...). Stick with the companies who actually know what customer service is, or at lease provide you with basic things like a SPARE TIRE in the car that they are renting to you.
