I have hired Middlesex Builders (which is a trade name of Mr Spencer Herbert and Mr Liam McKane) in November 2011 to build the rear extension and do internal renovation. At the beginning they sounded very professional and capable of making a good job. I have checked two references they provided and they looked perfect but later Mr McKane mentioned that he has a practice of paying his former customers for reference if he wins a job. They abused my trust and received from me a lot of money upfront and did not complete the projects. Rear extension is about a half complete while paid 75% of the quoted price and not single stage of work schedule have been completed in internal renovation project while 40% of the quoted price has been paid. The quality of work they partially delivered was below any reasonable standards and most of them were not completed. They admitted they have spent my money on someone else's project and are not in the position to continue without demanding more money form me. I also suffered a lot of verbal abuse and intimidation from them. I am currently preparing for legal action against Middlesex Builders. I also found another building & maintenance trade company registered at Mr Herbert's address.
