“Esporta Bristol. Nice club ruined by poor customer...”

I enjoyed using this club and have been a member on and off since it first opened. However since I re-joined last year they have tried to take monthly direct debits from my bank account several times even though I paid up front a full one year subscription.

My card was blocked when I still had two months membership to run and was finally after three weeks unblocked only to find it blocked yet again four days later! Every time I spoke to reception they would let me in and agree nothing was owed and it was a error yet a few days later there would be a letter telling me I owed a months subscription and they would add £30 if not settled straight away!

The manager did not even bother responding to my complaint and the person that said she had sorted all the mix up with head office never sent the letter she promised she was doing as she called me and has been either unavailable or "in a meeting" for three weeks now. Then this week I find they have cancelled my membership from March 1st even though they agree that I am all paid up until April 1st.

I would never trust this company with a direct debit which they insist on even if you pay for a full year in advance and now that they have ruined my last two months membership I would not concider joining again.

You should never believe anything said when you join as it seems to be a lot of lies judging by all the one star reviews they receive. Be very careful before you sign as they make out that there is a one month notice period instead of the three if you change to Virgin Active but the truth is you are tied into a 12 month contract unless you pay an extra £30 a month on the off peak price.
