“Australia - A brilliant holiday”

written by JenOz on 16/03/2012

My husband and I have just returned from a month in Australia (Feb 2012). We have family in Perth and close friends in Melbourne and wanted to combine visiting them with exploring as well. We have both been to Australia before but my husband had never been north of Sydney so our trip to Port Douglas was nostalgic (I went there in 1987) for me and an amazing experience for him. Our travel consultant (David Curd) looked after us and helped us put together our itinerary including (on his recommendation) Thala Beach Lodge and Rendezvous Stafford in Sydney both hotels we thoroughly enjoyed (especially Thala) and would recommend to anyone planning on visiting Sydney and the Cairns area. At Thala they upgraded us to a Sea View room and made our visit memorable: good food, pleasant, helpful, cheerful staff and by the end of the week we felt we were part of the Thala family. We arranged two tours before we left the UK, one on Wavedancer to the Low Isles, a very enjoyable and fun day and one to Kuranda on the train and back by Skyrail. Skyrail terrified us (we had no idea how high up we would be) but were still glad we did it. My only criticism is that the day trip was far too long. We went up on the train had 1 1/2 hours (approx) in Kuranda village (not long enough) back on Skyrail, lunch at Tjapukai Aboriginal Centre then 3 hours (approx) of shows and demonstrations from the local people. This was fascinating but far too long after a very exciting morning doing the Kuranda experience. We were just too hot and tired to appreciate Tjapukai properly and would rather have (somehow) split the tour up. Anyway the whole holiday went without a hitch, no delays and no problems and we returned to the UK with many happy memories. Many thanks to David Curd for his professional and helpful advice with putting our holiday together. We have used Travelbag in the past and will certainly use you again in the future.
