Annual multi trip black policy for me and my partner.
Skiing accident New Years Day which left me hospitalised overnight resulting in missed flights.
Claim for £3,230.10 submitted 11 Feb, cheque for £3,063.80 arrived yesterday.
Claim paid for all evacuation from the mountain, ambulance charges, medical expenses, overnight accommodation at the hospital for my partner, new flights, medical review by airline Doctor, overnight accommodation for me and my partner in a hotel because we couldn't get a flight and car parking charges due to late arrival back in the UK.
Deductions from my claim made for calls back to UK, SWIFT payment charges and flight cancellation charges. Apparently these are shown in the policy - I'm about to start looking and the small print.
Biggest problem was the fact that my accident was New Years Day but no local agent available.
Never claimed on holiday insurance so was a bit stressful but if I'm unlucky enough to have to claim again, I will know what to do and what to avoid.
BEWARE - when your policy is auto-renewed your claim is not included for renewal purposes and therefore if you are unlucky enough to have to claim for the same you will not be covered. You MUST ensure you ring and add to your policy and renewal. My policy is due to renew and I have been quote an additional £9 - well worth it if you consider my claim was settled at over £3,000. If you declare this so that it is added to your policy you MUST also phone to renew - it will not auto renew.
Overall, I am happy with the service provided by IAG although I would have liked the services of the local agent.
Based on my experience I would recommend this policy.
