“Network Professional Programme ”

Written on: 14/03/2012 by Asim_Bux (1 review written)

I joined the network professional programme in January 2011, as my career in retail was going no where and though I completed a Dip HE in Computer Networks it was not enough to get me a job in IT.

At first I decided to join the blended learning programme which allows you to study at home at your own pace, and was suitable for me as I was working fulltime, the only problem was that I was too tired and was not studying enough and as a result I was not progressing quickly enough.

I then decided to take a massive risk and took an unpaid 12 month career break and transfer on to the full time programme and with in weeks passed my A+1 and A+2 certificate and then went on to learn about Windows 7 and Server 2008.

In between all this the student support team helped create up to date CV's for us and we went through various sessions to help brush up on interview techniques, this enabled me to secure my first work placement with the council.

Unfortunately things did not work out as I was not learning what I needed to learn, and without any hesitation Just IT helped secure another work placement with a disability charity which went really well as I gained alot of commercial experience from the 8 week placement.

During the 6th week of my work placement I had to attend weekly job searching sessions, which included very useful techniques on how to search, apply and secure a job, as a result I was offered 2 roles one of which was contract and the other permanent, in the end I took the permanent role with an IT Support comapny as it paid more.

I cannot thank Just IT enough as they have been very supportive especially Ben, Toyin and Tyrone who I depended on most, and it proves that if you are willing to take a risk, work hard and put your faith in Just IT then you could be starting a career in IT just like me.
