I've been a vodafone customer for years but won't be renewing my contract. Vodafone activated a new sim card even though I hadn't ordered one from them. I phoned as soon as I received a text advising me that my replacement sim had been activated, and a stop was put on - not before fraudsters had tried to get into my bank account. As a result my bank accounts are frozen and I can only get money by visiting a branch with my passport. This is an ongoing nightmare as I have to close all my accounts and open new ones; I'm still waiting for new cards to be issued. Vodafone fraud told me a sim card had to be ordered by me and nobody should have been allowed to phone in and get one activated. They said staff had been negligent and would be disciplined. Trying to speak to a manager is pointless, nobody seems to have a good grasp of English. The letter I was promised was sent to a previous address. I have asked for compensation for ongoing disruption and was offered £50 vodafone credit! Not good when they have caused me so much inconvenience. They refuse to discuss the case with me so I have no idea how they got hold of my details. All totally unsatisfactory - my advice is never, ever use vodafone if you are concerned about security and confidentiality.
