“Customer of 12 months says avoid giffgaff”

So I was on giffgaff for 12 months. What a struggle it was.

I had a magnitude of issues, from calls going straight to voicemail when the phone was in range of perfect signal, to text messages not being sent, to mobile data being unreliable and slow.

Customer services are not reliable. They have a team of web-based customer services agents in Northern Ireland and India. They promise to reply to your account related enquiries within 24 hours, however in my experience they often took around 48 hours to reply. When a reply was received, it was a standard copy and paste reply which in some cases do not address the problem at all.

Payment system is unstable and has caused myself and others problems.

The apparently cheap prices are not worth it. With my new provider, I actually get 200 minutes more and the same amount of text messages and mobile data than I would for the same price on giffgaff. Sure, I had to sign up for a 12 month contract to get this. But unless you're looking to change providers each month, signing up for 12 months is not a big deal.

My overall summary; giffgaff is a great concept which sadly has been poorly executed. I would reconsider using giffgaff in the future, but for now, I feel I am better off with another network.
