I received the machine as a gift and found it easy to use although the capsules are horrendously expensive. The coffee tastes very good - it just takes time to learn how big a cup to use for different capsules.
Sadly when it goes wrong, you are on your own. Why do companies insist on using expensive 0800 phone numbers? I have to pay for these calls, you know! So I emailed instead using their online contact form. No response whatsoever. I found lots of other people online with the same symptoms, so clearly there are design faults. I descaled my machine a couple of times to ensure that it heated water and pumped both hot and cold into the cup, but at all other times it just refuses to operate, a flashing red light never turns to a green one.
The son who gave me the machine did so because he was impressed with his own. Sadly that, too has had to be replaced. I think Dolce Gusto really isn't up to the job, not if you want to carry on using it moderately for more than a year.
