“I bought the Kindle 2 about 6 months ago and I've...”

written by LateSummer on 27/01/2012

I bought the Kindle 2 about 6 months ago and I've gotten nothing but good out of it. It's been a great e-reader to have. Amazon have really revolutionalised the reading experience. The e-reader screen never glares, no matter how much sunlight you're in. And I don't know about you, but if the sunlight reflects off book pages when I read, it tends to hurt my eyes. This doesn't happen when I read with the Kindle. There are other screen options as well. You can make the font as big or as small as you want it to be. You can even flip the text in any direction so that reading is most comfortable for you.

It also seems to hold endless amounts of books and they're so easy to find. It gives you so many search options. The searches range from Title, to Author, to Genre to Book Content. You can search within 'Your Items' or search the Kindle store, which you do have access to from the e-reader itself.

Another great thing about this e-reader is the battery life. It holds up to a month, depending on how much you use it. Though, if you're a constant reader, it'll only last about a week. That's still a fairly long battery life.

The controls on this e-reader are effortless to use. It gives you a full keyboard for searches or if you want to type notes and such as well. The page changing buttons are within finger reach without having to strain or move your hand completely.

My favourite feature of this e-reader, though, is the audio book option. Amazon have really worked on the audio quality to make it very well rounded overall. And the page that opens up for your chosen audio book even includes album art. This option is great for those of you who feel you just don't have time to sit down and read a book.

The Kindle 2 does have full internet access, but it is quite slow due to it only being experimental. So, I don't recommend using it as a tablet, if that's what you're searching for. It also has an mp3 player in the experimental options. There's a downfall to that too, though. You, unfortunately, cannot change the songs as they're playing. You just have to deal with what's playing or not have music playing at all.

Overall, if you're looking for an e-reader to actually be an e-reader, rather than something to play games on or surf the web, this is the one for you. It's definitely a great product for the avid reader.
