“YBS Mortgages - great rate, terrible service!”

Found the property we wanted to buy in November 2011 and had our first appointment with a YBS adviser on 25th November - due to the length of the process, inefficiency and miscommunication by their staff we are nearly two months on and still don't have a confirmed mortgage offer and valuation. Our buyers are getting twitchy (and have now had to move into rented accommodation while they wait for us to complete our purchase!), and our vendor wants to start offering viewings to other potential purchasers, as our position lacks credibility due to the long delays. I've had to chase everything, as they NEVER get back to you within the timescales they set or take the actions that they say they are going to - completely unreliable and it is hard to believe that they are even in the business of providing mortgages - feels like this is the first time they've ever done it. We've spent £700 on the process so far, and with all of the time/energy invested it is difficult for us to pull out, but we're desperately wishing we'd gone with another lender and just paid an extra few pounds/month for a slightly worse rate. If this is representative of how they operate, don't waste your time - look elsewhere.
