In the past the word diet was somethng to be feared. Surely a diet meant sucking on a grape once a day and only drinking a sip of water once a week? Whenever me and my friends talked about diets (all the time!) we seemed to be confusing diets with famine and would talk endlessly about how naughty we were for having a bowl of cereal for breakfast when we really should have had only half a biscuit. I have obsessed over food for as long as I can remember and actually the more I stressed about the food the more I gained weight and the fatter I felt.
I came to Tesco diets because I wanted to change, not just my body and to lose weight, but to change my way of thinking. I wanted to be healthy and try new food and have someone else do all the hard work of thinking about what I was going to eat so I didn't have to.
The best thing is the choice. I always though diets were about cutting everything out and not even looking at certain food in fear of miraculously absorbing calories through eyesight. But now, I have so much to choose from! Meals and ingredients I had never heard of or tried or even thought were 'allowed'. It is such a pleasure to find new things you like and enjoying food which you KNOW is good. It's so deliciously guilt free! Also being able to edit meals to suit you exactly and adding ones you really loved to your favourites, they are then really easy to find, for me it also gives it a more permanent feel to it. Recipes before have come and gone just as quickly as the diets I tried but not this time. I have a nice collection of favourite recipes which are mine to enjoy forever!
It is so easy. I love how simple it is. Three meals and a snack set out for you everyday which you can swap and vary whenever you please to match the lifestyle you have. There is an option for everything- when you are feeling creative, when you are rushed of your feet, when you're tired or even when you want some familiar comfort.
The great thing is you just don't want anything else because you don't need anything else. You aren't being starved and I trust it completely. The support is fantastic. I love simple things such as seeing photos of the mentors- its so important I think for it to be that bit more personal- the mentors and supporters are more like friends than anything else. But sensible friends who actually know what they are talking about and know exactly what you are going/been through.
Having it all online is such a bonus. Its so quick and accesible. I look forward to going online and reading the blogs and tips and advice. You aren't joining a diet, you're joining a community. The tallies section is really good too. You tally how many drinks, fruit & veg, calcium and tea & coffee you consume everyday. I find this really fun, as each one is represented with a little picture. It marks how many you should be consuming and so I always want to try and tick all of them off, which means I am getting all the fruit and veg and water I need everyday and is so rewarding. It makes me wonder why I ever found five portions of fruit/veg so diffcult before!
My favourite thing above all else is just feeling happier. I feel healthy and optimistic. I love knowing a happier and healthier lifestyle is being formed. That, to me, doesn't have a price.
I shall stop rambling now!
If you want to lose weight then by all means go on a diet but if you want to change your lifestyle then join Tesco diets. You won't regret it!
