“Archaic Shipping Charges”

Written on: 06/01/2012 by ClanSterk (1 review written)

Lovely products and great sale offers. However, TCC employs the services of a very out of date courier - for a parcel to be delivered to the Aberdeen area, on top of the £4.95 standard fee, there is an additional £25 area surcharge!!! My goods would have cost £55 with shipping of £30 - a little disproportionate don't you think!
Outside of London, Aberdeen is one of the wealthiest UK cities - clearly TCC doesn't want this area as clients, or has no issue ripping them off.
I very regularly buy goods online for home delivery and NO other companies/ couriers levy an area surcharge!
I would also add that this area surcharge was way to subtly entered onto the billing page - should have been apparent as soon as I entered my address, and been flagged in red.
I did call customer services and spoke with a very polite and confident young man, who did apologise and say there was no option to waive this fee as it was simply a charge their courier charged them, and they passed on.
My next step will be to submit feedback to a current Citizens Advice Scotland survey which is naming and shaming companies with these rip-off shipping policies. Open until 19th January 2012, www.surveymonkey.com/s/freedelivery
