Skala Kalloni on the island of Lesbos has retained all of its Greek charm even with some tourists staying here. There is no bus service, bank (the nearest being 3 miles away) and very few shops. So some people may considered it isolated, We loved the tranquillity. The beach has a lovely sand and is only spoilt by the Sea Grass underfoot as you enter the sea. There is a traditional village square surrounded by authentic tavernas the best being Ambrosia. Also by the square is a lovely little church. Another taverna worth dining at is Enigma on the sea front which lacks some atmosphere but the food is superb. There is a nice fresh bakery in the village and also a couple of very low key bars. This is a resort to visit if you want complete relaxation and very little commercialism. If you want to explore car hire is recommended. It is also popular with bird watchers.
