“10 year warranty is meaningless.”

I bought a Samsonite hard shell 4 wheel spinner case 4 years ago for £199. It carried a ten year warranty. On a trip this year one of the wheels came off and was lost as I was rushing for a ferry. I contacted the UK authorised repair centre and paid them to collect it to assess the repair. I was very surprised and disappointed that it was sent back the next day with just a curt - "unable to obtain spares". As an agent they say there is nothing more that they will do. I contacted Samsonite in UK and expressed my surprise that a near £200 case with a ten year warranty can be made redundant through damage after only using it for 4 years. They said that as I was unable to provide the original purchase reciept, even though I could provide the exact date and the shop it was bought from, there was nothing they can do as the spares are not available. I'll never buy Samsonite again.
