“Scraping the Barrel”

My friend and I purchased the spa day at the Oakley Hotel, Windsor, via Travelzoo. The offer advertised that it was available 7 days a week which was good as we wanted to go in on a weekend. When I called up (in oct), I was told that there were no Saturdays or Sundays available until after xmas. Then I requested for a Friday and to my disappointment I was told that there were none available. Then decided to go for a Monday to make it a long weekend, and once again, I was promptly told there were none available. I booked a weekday and had to take the day off from work. The offer had advertised a drink on arrival and that other drinks would be available to purchase at the bar, which implied to me that it would be an alcoholic drink. But No, we were only offered either tea or coffee.
We had chosen the aromatherapy massage and Jessica pedicure. The massage turned out to be a back massage not body and the pedicure consisted of a simple dry footfile, and file and paint. We were both very disappointed. No further refreshments were readily available or offered throughout the day.
Personally, I feel that we were not given priority because we had travelzoo vouchers and we might have been treated differently if we had paid the full price. Even then, £49 was too much for day. The spa facilities have not been maintained to the highest quality one expects (we found it shabby). Other spa days such as at Whittlebury Hall House and the Amida Spa have been excellent value for money in comparison and I will certainly NEVER return to the body firm spa at the Oakley Hotel. Also, I have unsubscribed with Travelzoo as I believe they are not genuine offers and will not be using them again!
