“Perfect venue, shame about the stress caused by the owner”

There is no mistaking, this venue is beautiful. The thing you need to be aware of is the management style of the owners. Get absolutely everything in writing. We were promised all sorts of things and then when it came down to it, our hopes were dashed. There are also lots of restrictions on what entertainment you can have owing to the fact they have flouted the law so many times in terms of planning permissions. We were promised that if the marque was being used then we would not notice anything, not the case at all.

The final straw came after we had chosen all of our colour themes, flowers etc., to then find out 2 weeks before the wedding that they had changed the carpet to a bright cherry red carpet, and a cheap looking one too. To have the bride to be in tears didn't seem to bother them. After much shouting they did replace the carpet but we could have done without the stress.

The food was very good, with massive portions. We had to tell them to slow down the food service as at one stage the head table were being served desserts whilst some tables where only just starting their mains.

Lost confidence in their ability to track the bar bill as they didn’t seem to have a clue what we had / hadn't spent.

Overall, we had a perfect day; we just didn’t need all the stress the owners caused in the run up. The event team are very good and i am glad they were there to keep the owners away from the day. Also note that a lot of suppliers will not supply to this venue owing to problems and damage to their goods
