“Cineworld - Really?!”

Firstly I am very disappointed at the range of movies shown at our local cineworld. Having initially taken out the unlimited card due to the closeness of the cinema to our house, quite often if we want to see a Bollywood, foreign or slightly niche movie we have to travel an extra 30 miles each way to a different cinema to see it. Most of these films that aren't shown coincidently do have poster advertisements at our local cineworld.

There are 9 screens so it baffles me why they will have the same film on in 3 of those at the same time and completely miss showing certain other movies.

They could use the excuse that there's no demand for certain movies - if it wasn't for the fact that me and my husband have quite often been sat in the screening as the only people there for some of the bigger movies while on the odd occasion when they have shown Bollywood films, they have always been packed. (I think the last time they showed one in Northampton was around January 2010.)

When they do on the odd occasion show non-mainstream movies, they keep them on for about 3 days to a week meaning that if you don't have time in one week to go then you miss it and again have to travel to a different cinema if you really want to see it.

The booking for unlimited card holders is also bad. As you are unable to book in advance, if you want to see a 'newer' movie you have to get in really early on the morning to stand any chance of getting a ticket.

On a couple of occasions we have driven to the cinema 30 miles away, stood in a queue for over half an hour only to be told that there are no tickets left for the film we wanted to see in two hours time.(Should I have also booked a morning off work and added 60 miles onto the journey to pick the tickets up first thing in the morning?!) I think not!!

Even more recently there have been a couple of occasions where we have to sit and watch an advert for a particular movie for about 4 weeks before the release date only to find out they won't be showing it anyway.

Back to the adverts, is it really necessary to have 15 minutes of 'normal' adverts prior to the next 15 minutes of 'new movie' trailers on every occasion?!

The 3D situation is a joke! certain movies ie Fright Night 3D most recently are only shown in 3D so regardless of having the unlimited card, you still end up having to pay extra to see certain movies.

At our local cinema, the quality of some of the screens is appalling. From Curtain over the top section of the screen and lines throughout the movie to dodgy crackly sound. And don't even get me started on the fact that we have to take in both a jumper and a coat to sit and watch a film because it is so cold in there, or the price of the refreshments. Sometimes the staff and service can be a bit questionable but given what most of them have to work with, I don't suppose their half bad!

On a number of occasions I have messaged the customer services from their website and had to chase for a response. A recent complaint resulted in the offer of two vouchers for combo meals to be sent to me. I decided to accept as I wouldn't really expect much else from them. I am still waiting for these vouchers. They agreed to send these over two months ago. I think someone must be walking them over from head office!!

Last moan of the day - promise!! (And also what has prompted this review)

Last Wednesday I checked the website for Killer Elite showings. The site stated that there was a showing at 9.20 tonight. I also noted that they were actually also taking the film off today.

On an early morning timetable check today to confirm the time, I notice that this particular screening has disappeared and that the last showing is at 3.40pm. Not much difference then. It's not like I work for a living and can't make day time showings is it?! Yet another film we have now missed.

Sadly (for us)there are a couple of films coming out in the next few weeks that we really want to see otherwise we'd be cancelling the card today. The required notice will defo be going in very soon!
