The staff are friendly at this particular location. However, AVIS does not include the London Congestion Charge in the rental price. Moreover, they do not ask, or inform you about this charge.
This rental location is less than half a mile away from entering this charged zone. I rented a car from them, not knowing that this London specific charge/tax was not included in the car rental (Hertz and Europcar have it already included, as do all London Zipcars and Streetcars you can rent). I was then surprised to receive a fine from Transport for London over 90 British Pounds and Avis decided to charge me with an additional 30 British Pounds for them NOT telling me in the first place!
This is in no way acceptable and is completely inappropriate for a car rental in London. Upon requesting an explanation and a refund for their incompetence, they pointed out the Avis office was outside the congestion charge zone, only after turning right out of their car park do you actually enter the zone.
Never will I rent a car with AVIS again for their customer service is not bad, but simply inexistent.
