“Upgrade the RAM and you couldn't ask for anything better!”

This HP product offers a great netbook solution for casual leisure or standard level work at home or out.

One of its most outstanding features is its battery life - the netbook can easily run off battery for five straight hours even when intensively watching videos or video-conferencing. The screen is also very impressive, proving bright enough to offer visual clarity even in bright sunlight and looking incredibly sharp. The maximum resolution is of course small at 1024x600, but this is fine for a 10.1-inch screen. The keyboard is very tidy to use; I was able to accustom myself to typing on it rather than a full size desktop keyboard within a couple of minutes, unlike keyboards on other netbooks that are often fiddly. The hotkeys on the keyboard all work perfectly as intended and are easy to operate. The netbook is more than capable of playing videos locally or from the internet, although to do so in a completely smooth manner you'll have to exit other applications.

There is one problem: netbooks shipped with Windows 7 Starter are always limited to having only 1GB of RAM. Upgrading the RAM to 2GB - easily done - is highly recommendable; unless you do this, the netbook may slow down instantly when you try to run two or more applications at the same time and may take a while to launch some hefty software, such as iTunes.

The speakers on the netbook could be louder, but they are really no different to others on offer in such small systems. Audio is fantastic through headphones.

The HP Mini 110 (3100 in my case) is guaranteed to be a great purchase!
