I had an interesting conversation with a business manager (not my actual manager she is never available). On asking for a new debit card (mine expired) I was told that they do not issue cards automatically to accounts as small as ours as they are deemed to be potential risks. Apparently my card could be misused by myself and get me into debt...I was quite offended to be told that because we only put a small amount of money through our business account (about 5500) we are not important enough to be worthy of a simple debit card. we would have to settle for a cashpoint card and visiting the local branch. The conversation turned to why we did not put much through our account turnover etc..when i explained that we often deal in cash and pay things in cash this was also frowned upon (needs to go through the bank so they can see how we are doing ) my response was that we have to pay to put cash in as we do for cheques, any direct debits that we make etc.. In a difficult time we need to save all we can by banking carefully and I do object to putting money into a bank (so they can invest make interest etc) to get very little in return.
This conversation on top of a five month wait for Lloyds to deal with a previos matter and subsequent complaint leaves me with one desire that is to close my account and look elsewhere.
