I have had our second car insured through Yes for 5 years without any problem. They quickly settled a flood claim in 2008 without any major hassle. and a glass claim earlier this year. The renewal notice arrived and because it was good cover and not outrageously expensive, I decided to let them renew automatically as previously. The letter said in 3 PLACES that it would be automatic and I need do nothing else. Imagine my chagrin when a letter arrived 3 DAYS after the policy expired telling me that it would not be renewed and that I was no longer covered. Called most unhelpful customer services who said that the offer had been withdrawn because of a poor claims history. They had all the claim details when they first made the offer! They said they were unable to offer another quote. Funnily enough when I started trawling the price comparison sites, they could offer a quote that was cheaper than their original! What if we had been stopped by the police during these 3 days (£100's in fines/charges, 6 points {IN10 - much higher premiums in future}), or worse still the personal financial implications of us seriously injuring or killing someone when it was our fault.
