“I missed one payment ...”

I have been a member of Greens Birmingham for 9 years. I missed a monthly payment, and was very quickly contacted by them with threats of a debt collection agency. Having been a member all this time, I was not at all impressed by the way I was dealt with, and contacted them to say that I would be cancelling my membership altogether, gave them more than the required period of notice plus a cheque for two months' membership - the one I had missed, plus an EARLY payment for the following month.

I thought no more of it, until I DID receive a letter from a Debt Collection Agency - nearly two weeks later. This, despite the fact that they had banked my cheque, which had cleared by the time I received the letter. They would also have had ample time to have contacted the debt collection agency. The matter has now been resolved, but no thanks to Greens.

When you telephone them, one of the menu choices is for 'their loyal customers'. It sort of sticks in my throat.
