I joined Total fitness 12 months ago and first impressions were very good. Pleasant staff and great facilities. I paid a bargain price of £295 on the web. Now my membership is due for renewal at £495. If all was well I think it's reasonable value for money, as long as you use the facilities. The problem is that over the last 12 months there has been a steady decline in the overall look of the place. It's starting to look very shabby with numerous machines either completely broken and displaying notices stating temporarily out of use. These notices have been on the equipment for 6 weeks or more. I would not call that temporary. There are also a very high number of machines that do not sense your heart rate. This makes them useless if you want to do a cardio or fat burning routine etc. I hav'nt seen any form of maintenance to the equipment or anyone cleaning the windows in the past 12 months. In short it looks like investment has stopped and the place is going to close down. I spoke to head office on the phone after they sent me my renewal form. I was told to speak to the manager at the Prenton branch. I hav'nt had the chance yet, but plan to asap.
