If I had done my research before-hand and read these reviews, I would never have gone to ConPlan.
I insured my husky when we purchased her, and took out the full package, including life-long cover for any illnesses. Within a couple of weeks of having her she fell ill with diarrhea and sickness. It took some time for the vets to diagnose her as having the giardia parasite in her stomach, but with treatment this was taken care of.
And so.....I decided to put a claim in. After months of to-ing and fro-ing we were turned down, due to the small print that said any illness that arises in the first two weeks of the policy is not covered.
I wasn't happy, but fair enough. It's in the small print, I didn't read it, I got burned. Lesson learned.
That was a year ago.
In the last two months my husky has been diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, which means that she has to be on a very strict diet, and will occasionally suffer with diarrhea. This, again, was diagnosed after many visits to the vets.
We finally have it under control now, and so I thought maybe I should try and claim again, having been advised by my vet that this is a totally separate issue to what was dealt with last year.
This morning we received a letter stating that this illness is not covered due to exclusions in our policy (because she'd been treated for a stomach-related issue last year), and that we would receive no payment.
I will be canceling the policy when I get home. I know that no insurance company will cover her stomach now (and I'm sure ConPlan will tell me so), but it'll be cheaper and more efficient for me to put a lump of money away every month to cover her for anything that crops up in the future.
Avoid this company. Ignore their pretty posters showing giggling kids getting kisses off their pets. They will take your money and laugh when you try to claim anything.
They are crooks.
I will be pushing this as far as I can.
