“Chiquitos virgin.”

Written on: 21/06/2011 by JenniferKevan (1 review written)

My boyfriend and I wanted to eat out on a Saturday night and chose to go to Chiquitos over other restaurants and which I am so glad that we did! My boyfriend had eaten there before with his family and mentioned it to me suggesting that we try it one day. When we got there it was very busy and we could clearly see that the staff were rush off their feet but one member of staff was quick to greet us politely and let us know that the waiting time for a table would be around 15 minutes. My boyfriend and I happily accepted the waiting time and we were offered to take a seat in the bar area where we sat comfortably with some drinks and waited to be seated in the restaurant area. It was less than 15 minutes that we were seated and our order was quickly taken. We didn't order any starters but were brought out some big chips and a salsa dip to share free of charge whilst we waited for out food to arrive. My boyfriend ordered the lamb shank with sweet potato and red onion mash and I ordered the Chimichangas with duck, of which was recommended by my boyfriend. The waiting time for our main course was around 15-20 minutes but was understandable because of how busy the place was. Once our meals arrived they were both hot in temperature, aesthetically pleasing to the eye and tasted incredible! The meat in both dishes was cooked to perfection, the lamb just fell from the bone and the duck was so juicy and tender. None of the flavours were over powering and we could tell that a lot of effort was put into cooking these dishes. After polishing off our main courses we both sat in satisfaction that we had been fed very well! Our table was swiftly cleared and we were offered the dessert menu, despite the restaurant still being very busy. We decided to order the dessert shots and had all 5 flavours to share. They were brought out to us quickly and again were very aesthetically pleasing. We both tucked in to the desserts, admittedly some flavours were nicer than others but that's just personal taste rather than quality of the food. Once we had finished, again our table was swiftly cleared and we were regularly offered more drinks which was nice. We chose to just ask for the bill and I was very pleasantly surprised with the total cost of the meal for the both of us. I expected it to be a lot more for the quality of the food, but I was more than happy to pay for the meal and also left a generous tip for the sufficiency of the staff that attended to us. For my first time eating in a restaurant that I had previously read very poor reviews about and it being my boyfriend's second time, I was very satisfied with our night out and will definitely be going back very soon! Highly recommended.
