I studied Maths and Artificial Intelligence here from 1999 until 2002, quite by chance. I knew nothing about Brighton before I turned up there, and what an amazing time I ended up having - so much so that I stayed in Brighton 10 years after graduating - a common tale for many graduates.
I didn't quite get the grades needed for my course, so my accommodation was offsite, in an old Victorian hotel on the sea front, which actually turned out to be better than the standard halls on campus, although apparently Sussex Uni is the only campus set within an area of outstanding natural beauty - the South Downs.
I found the courses and teaching to be excellent, although I did find studying maths pretty difficult. I'd definitely recommend others to consider studying at Sussex.
