I am now in my fifth year with Co-Op car insurance. My premium was originally £340 now it is £600 five years later even though with four years no claims bonus which is supposed to be worth some kind of discount. This price is still the cheapest on the comparision web sites.
In January I was quoted £250 but when I went to get the policy six weeks later it had gone. That was with Saga they wanted £800 when they requoted me. The CO OP quoted me £280 in January and £600 six weeks later.
At this rate it is my last year of driving as the cost of insurance makes it just to expensive to travel 3000 miles a year. 20p a mile for insurence plus 30p a mile for petrol is 50p a mile then there is maintenance, road tax on top of that.
I usually just jump on my scooter. The car was bought to do a part time delivery job but that job has stopped up now.
