“I purchased my Sansui VRDVD4005 at sears in January...”

I purchased my Sansui VRDVD4005 at sears in January and it worked fine. I copied many old VHS tapes to DVD and had no problems. All of a sudden I got error messages on DVD's I tried to record. The machine would not finalize correctly on longer tapes and I returned it to sears. After 2 weeks I was notified that the machine was not worth repairing and I am getting another one from Sears since it is still under warranty. I am weary though because I was very careful with my machine and can't understand how it just stopped working.
