As I live abroad I wanted a no-hassle three year guarantee and full technical support with my new computer, just in case.
I phoned Palicomp and their salesman guided me in choosing exactly what I want at my price point. They built me the computer of my desires, even upgrading the HDD at no extra cost. I collected it on my annual visit to the UK. I could park outside their shop and they provided an appropriate 24"monitor off the shelf on the day.
Back home in Portugal I loaded all my programs and updated the software. The machine was great for three weeks when, for no apparent reason, the screen turned to snow. I rebooted it and it performed like a car with a flat battery, cutting out before even getting to the POST checks.
I rang Palicomp's support department, and to cut the long story short, over the phone one of their men talked me through opening the case and fault-finding until we found a failed memory card. We spent all the rest of the afternoon getting the computer running again on the remaining good memory card, starting with a reinstall of the motherboard software and Windows7, as everything had been corrupted. I sent them the failed memory and they returned an identical replacement which is a doddle to install. The computer is now like new and was only unusable for a day - thank you and well done, Palicomp.
