“I had studied reviews on all the £100 - £200 espresso...”

written by on 24/01/2010

I had studied reviews on all the £100 - £200 espresso machines and narrowed my choice down to the Dualit Espressivo and the Delonghi 310. Both offered all the features that I consider necessary for a good entry level mechine, both look good and the reviews all rate them equally.

The fact that I've got Dualit toaster and kettle which have survived the test of time swung my choice in favour of the Dualit Espressivo.

The machine was easy to set up although the instruction booklet does contain some silly mistakes (with the numbering of parts).

It makes great espresso's and cappuccino's but at first you do feel like it's all a bit of a fuss and sometimes they turn out cold or too weak but this is user error rather than a machine fault. Follow the instructions and it makes a perfect coffee.

The first couple of times it did seem noisy, this has since settled down to an acceptable level.

One slight failing is the omission of a milk jug. This is definitely required and you'll need to buy one if you want decent cappuccino. Other than that, a really impressive machine that I'm very happy with.

Being Dualit, you pay a bit more, but the build quality is excellent.
