Dell Inspiron 1545 Spec. Intel Dual Core T4200. 2Gb Ram, 160Gb HDD. Black. Windows Vista Home Premium.
I bought this from the Dell Outlet site for £255.
Firstly, I use this for basic operations inc. email, web browsing and photography (Photshop Elements 7). I do NOT play games, play music or watch much video.
Body.
Basic matt black case, with silver Dell Logo. Inside the screen surround and keyboard surround are of shiny black plastic. Nice looking but very much a fingerprint magnet. I clean it regularly with spectacle cleaner.
Screen.
15.6in shiny screen is very effective giving good quality viewing. No dead pixels on this model.
Keyboard.
Matt black keys give a nice feel for typing. Key travel and response is very positive. Track pad is an indentation in the keyboard surround but not pronounced. This sometimes means one is trying to "scroll" only to find your finger is not on the pad!
Sound.
Fairly basic, compared to my Inspiron 8600 but adequate for requirements.
Machine is quiet in use and when the fan cuts in it is not obtrusive.
Battery.
Slight disappointment here. Fully charged I get about 90-120 minutes of basic use.
General.
There 3 USB ports on the sides, a card reader at the front and DVD rewriter. The machine is not heavy, reasonably thin (tapers to the front) and performs all functions perfectly adequately.
