“Read reviews on the Hotpoint WMD960 before I bought it...”

Written on: 31/01/2011

Read reviews on the Hotpoint WMD960 before I bought it and based on them, thought it would be ok. I mainly bought it because it was quiet and had a large drum. First of all, the noise that the machine makes when water drains out of it is enough to make us avoid using it whilst the TV is on in the living room! I have owned the machine for just over a year now and I have had engineers out three times regarding the machine not recognising enough back pressure and therefore it never seems to stop draining. The pipe coming from the back has to be doubled over and looped up really high (unlike any machine i've ever had). Due to this I had to buy an extension pipe from the engineer. If the machine requires this in order for it to work, surely it should be supplied as a matter of course?! I then found the powder drawer was leaking which was replaced under warranty. The rubber seals around the opening went mouldy within about one month of owning it, again, unlike anyother machine i've owned. I am not closing the door on this machine any more than I used to on the last machine?! This morning I have found one of the paddles in the drum snapped off (only held on by some silly little pieces of plastic). Regret buying this machine now. Considering my last one was a cheap, basic model which was left, and is still running with no faults, in the house that I now rent out! ...Doh!
