General Comments
Purchased both the Maytag Neptune Washer and Dryer in June 1988, and everything worked fine for a while. I began to notice mold around the front door about two years later, and tried to clean it with bleach, but I couldn't get rid of it. In June 2003 I received a letter from Maytag asking if I had any problems with the washer, specifically with mold. I told them yes, I did. Shortly thereafter, I received a boot enhancement kit from UPS and instructions on how to get it repaired for no charge. I thought that "this is great, Maytag really stands behind their product". In September 2004 the washer stopped working completely, so I paid $257. to have the control board and motor replaced. In January 2005 my wife noticed that sometimes the clothes were still wet after the spin cycle. I would reset the timer to the spin cycle then they would be damp dry and ready for the dryer. Now in the middle of February 2005, my wife saw SMOKE coming from the door when she went to take the clothes out. That was it! We are going to the store tomorrow to purchase a new washer AND IT WON'T BE A MAYTAG!!
