Reasons to Buy the Xclef HD-500 20GB Jukebox:
You can read text files of the screen.
Can be upgraded to bigger hard drive - takes laptop 3.5" drives.
Easy to use.
Cheap for what it is.
Can encode straight from a hi-fi, no need for a PC.
Big, clear display.
Can organise data just like a Hard drive.
Reasons not to:
Scroller is a cheap plastic slide on the side, feels weak. Not a patch on the Ipod system.
For an Mp3 Player it is big - just over 5" in Height and 3" wide and 3/4" deep.
Doesn't hold big text files to read i.e. no books
Not amazingly pretty.
Takes ages to start up when you turn it on, as it scans the whole drive, and audibly whirrs as it does so.
Having said all of this the only thing that holds the Xclef Hd-500 back is its size. If you are looking for a cute, small and pocket sized Mp3 player this is not for you. However if you want a true gadget with the ability to upgrade the size of the hard drive and change the battery as it takes mobile phone (Nokia) Batteries, but to do this you must be relatively familiar with electronics.
When all is said and done I do love mine, oh but how I dream at night if only it was a little smaller...
