“We have just returned fron 7 nights on the Island...”

Written on: 14/03/2011

We have just returned fron 7 nights on the Island Escape thompson canary cruise, the ship has had a refit but the captain told us it was the engines not the interior, which is very threadbare worn out and desperate for an internal refit, the staff were wonderful ,friendly and helpful ,the food is British and what you would expect in a 3 star hotel ok but not great, The rooms were at best basic nothing fancy on this ship, but the cabin steward kept it spotlessly clean and tidy. The public areas were ok very full in the evenings as the ship is a small ship drinks were a fair price not expensive, destinations were great, trips were not as expensive as previous cruises I have been on, morroco souk and fantasia was definately a waste of time and money ,we had been told the 4x4 experience was better, The entertainment was great apart from a shirley bassey impersenator who everyone we spoke to thought she was dreadful , the ships entertainment team had great voices when they sang but most of the shows were mimed still enjoyable, The Island Restaurant was the best place to eat self service but shown to a table and you had a waiter, the other restaurant was partly self service and looked like a cafe same food choices in both resaurants, the 3rd restaurant we were told is very good the oasis restaurant but it costs 13.99 per person extra, If you had been on a cruise before on a large ship this will not be for you there is no wow factor it is exactly what it is cheap and cheerful nothing smart or memorable but ok if you want a relaxing short break, 7 nights were enough for us , all the ports visited had taxis to take you where ever you wanted to go, but always ask for a price first. you must be out of your cabin at 9am . The photography service was good but could be a nuisance on times they seen to be every where.this cruise is for people who dont mind 3 star accomodation ,british food, mediocore trips, but saying all thatyou get what you pay for.
