The idea that reading a book barely an inch thick would help me quit smoking after almost 30 years of the habit was ludicrous to me. I'd tried patches, gum, hypnosis ... how could I quit doing something I enjoyed doing so much? I heard about Allen Carr's "The Easy Way to Quit Smoking" on the radio. A comedian (whose name I cannot recall) was touting its effectiveness with his own habit. So I bought it. I mean, what's 12 or 13 dollars compared to a carton of cigarettes, right? It laid next to my reading chair for quite awhile before I had the courage to pick it up and actually read it. I took my sweet time getting through it and reread some chapters to make sure I got it all. I finished the book on May 16, 2007. I've not smoked since. [The date of this review: 1/5/2010]
