“Arriva trains are delayed frequently, always look like...”

Written on: 25/05/2010

Arriva trains are delayed frequently, always look like they need hoovering, and mess is never removed from seats or tables. At peak times there are not enough carriages and, I have seen from my standing position on a crowded train, all the three carriage trains that are full of seats going to less busy areas. Crowding is heavy on peak time trains. Arriva trains break down or struggle sometimes, and sometimes the doors to the exits from the inside do not open. Conductors rarely stamp tickets so if I and everyone else were theives we could use them again countless times. There is never enough leg room on older trains and the air con always seems to be stuck on hot, even in hot weather. Station staff are usually ok, but no one ever enforces the no smoking rule on platforms, which I find offensive. Trains advertise trolley services sometimes, but seeing one is a challenge sometimes. Also, Trains always seem full of passengers at the first station in the journey.

There are good points, reserved seats are always reserved, and you can get off the train. Unfortunately it is the only service that runs where I need it often, apart from Virgin trains, which are rare compared to Arriva.
