Good Points
I love the torque, the effortless power delivery and the raw sound of that big air/oil cooled four. I can ride it for 12 hours and still walk to the bar like a normal person and I have never felt wrist pain or any other pain for that matter.
It;s easy to maintain, wicked to modify and the support network around the marque is knowledgeable, helpful and eager to keep these behemoths alive. All in all, I can agree that this bike is anti fashionable, old, grumbly and bloody well quick enough, the old adage 'great on paper and crap on the road' works the other way round for this bike - it;s brilliant
Bad Points
I hate the headlight, it feels like a disinterested glow worm on a really bad day. Works much better with a HID conversion but the beam spread is still not up with the best of the 50cc stepthru's, still what do you expect, that last one was spawned quite a while ago.
My final gripe is the lack of underseat storage to house that all important spare litre of oil
General Comments
I've had my 1993 abs FJ for a year now. I travel 280 miles a days 3 or 4 week in all sorts of weather and traffic. I've got to say this is a masterpiece, its grunty, noisy and involving and totally placid and predictable when all you want to do is get your head down and knock off the 150 miles home yet will howl like a banshee when provoked. Apart form a thirst for oil of around 2000 miles per litre and petrol at 11 miles per litre it's really cheap to run, insurance is reasonable parts are not scary and the support from the FJ owners club is second to none
