I purchased my Hard Rock specialized in 2001 and use it strictly with road tires on pavement for my workouts. I'm 62 years old and weigh 175lbs and typically bike between 60-100 miles per week. In that time period I have had the frame brake twice, one of the cranks broke, both wheels had to be replaced. Of course I expect things like the chain, pedals and the de-railer to fail during that period of time but certainly not the frame. The only things that haven't failed were the de-railer and the kick stand. However, in general I have really enjoyed riding this bike but wish that they make the frame and wheel set a little more substantial.
