“PER-KL-STN. ”

Written on: 25/07/2009

PER-KL-STN.
PER - KL - PER was on Airbus 330, the seats are essentially 3 inch foam, the back support does not recline but instead the bottom seat cushion moves forward by about 2 inches - do not expect a comfortable recline. Prior to departure they pack you in the plane 45-60 mins before departure time but do not turn the air-conditioning on till the plane departs, making it very uncomfortable in the heat and humidity especially in KL. You land on the tarmac and walk to the terminal which is… Read Full Review

Written on: 01/07/2009 by neverflyagain (1 review written)

I would like to air my opinion toward this airline. If you are not budget-tight, DO NOT fly Air Asia.

I just had the worst experience with this airline. I agreed with an opinion that they just try to collect as much as money from the customers.

Seat assignment: I don't know that now we can pick our seat upon checking in. My husband traveled from Hat Yai to Bangkok on a delayed flight, as usual. He checked in one hour early and told the ground staff that he would like to sit in the middle part of… Read Full Review

Written on: 18/06/2009

Air Asia are a nightmare to travel with as others point out - amongst other things DON'T TRUST AIR ASIA WEIGHING SCALES - I flew from Chaing Mai to Bangkok with Air Asia, my bag coming in at 16.5 Kg (Air Asia allowance 15 Kg) for which I had to walk around the airport to pay the excess baggage fee before queuing again for check-in (I could have just unpacked 1.5kg clothing and carried it on the plane with me as the chap in front of me had done, and infuriated other passengers both waiting to… Read Full Review

I will never book Air Asia again - they have no customer welfare at all - only goal is collecting as much money as they can from would be customers. They prey on those who are budget conscious and those who are not IT savvy. Air Asia may as well not have any staff on the phones, just automated systems who spew out their rules and regulations over and over again… Read Full Review

I found this review very helpful because to let others know how AA make money from its cheap fare. And it was almost same case with mine.

On the 26th dec 09, I broke a fight with a ground staff

at the LCCT Malaysia , as she refusal my departure
to Abu Dhabi, unless I buy return ticket back to Malaysia.
I cannot believe the Indian woman told me all airlines to Abu Dhabi having the same policies and refused to listen to me. She was very rude, unlike the Indian man beside her. She forced me to buy return ticket that I don't need or she said, "I will never let you fly".

I have been traveling since 2005 with airline like Emirates, Qatar,
Etihad, MAS and Gulf. No one ever asked me to buy return ticket,
even though I don't have resident visa at that point, due to my husband job(changing).

As I reached the Abu Dhabi immigration officer, I asked him, " does every Malaysian have to buy return ticket within 30days back to Malaysia?" he replied short, "NO".

Just to satisfy myself, the next day I called Abu Dhabi Airport, Immigration Department, Eithad Airline and Gulf Airline. All of them allow one-way flight to Abu Dhabi and Dubai, as you should make a new entry every 30days .Which I know well, other wise I shall pay 100AED penalty for one day, not AA will pay for me.

Actually, she should say it is AA policy, not all Airline or International rules. She was trying to fool me with her stupid argument.
AA should train their staff to answer politely and wisely.

Anyway, I have to pay penalty 140AED, to change from 24 Jan to 28Jun and not allowed to buy return ticket back to Abu Dhabi. It is not fair at all! I see it as troublesome.

Instead, go back to Malaysia on the24Jan my husband will drive me to the Oman border, which I done it many times, as it proven in my passport.
Written on: 16/04/2009 by Ianev (1 review written)

Air Asia was not as cheap as they are trying to persuade people they are. We booked 3 single flights with Air Asia from KL-DPS-CGK-KL, there were delays on the last 2 flights. On the 1st one: 1 hour delay, the flight management bothered to inform us 6.5 hours in advance via text.

On the 2nd one, 4 hours delay no infos were given whatsoever. We had only 3 hours of restless sleep in a very expensive Sheraton hotel in KL before having to get up at 6.30 am to catch our flight back to London due to… Read Full Review

Air Asia - Air Rubbish more likely !! -
Massive delays so you either miss your connecting flights or ruin your holidays.
They are suppose to text you any changes but not everyone gets those text messages.
Grumpy staff - definitely underpaid and under experienced.
Planes that stop before taking off !! then change plane...only to stop before taking off again!
One kilo above 15kg you pay !! They dont even offer you a glass of water during the flight!
Air Asia Airport in Kuala Lumpur crowded, a… Read Full Review

Flew from Perth WA to KL in March 09 with Air Asia. Had a great flight with no problems at all . Staff were great. The flight left on time an arrived in KL 1/2 hour early so that was good.
We missed our conecting flight home to perth because we didnt allow enough time between flights (our mistake not the airline)
Cant complain cos the flight was so cheap.
We had to buy another ticket and sleep at the airport.
But we survived and are planning another trip in October with the family.(andmaking… Read Full Review

Had a horrible return trip on Air Asia X. On my first flight, halfway through the flight, I found that the comfort kit I had prepaid was missing pieces. Repeated requests to provide the the neck-pillow AND eye mask were "forgotten" until I finally gave up. On my return, I was delayed at the check in counter because my visa was in the old passport - and they needed to have upper management verification. This has never happened in any airport before.
Overall, I felt it is not worth the cheaper… Read Full Review

Allowed me to book online first part but refused same card for next 2 legs , as far as I was aware there was no problem with card, worked fine for World Nomads Insurance and Nokair. . Is it worth flying air asia? It is if you're short of money & have a lot of time to kill but don't expect your trip to be an easy process. This airline could make just a few small changes which would make the experience of flying with them so much better. I've taken a lot of air asia flights & so many of them have been cancelled or delayed without any communication or compensation. I've just recently decided that it's not worth the money you save! So I'm now going to pay the extra for a decent… Read Full Review

Customer Services? In my experience there aren't any. Made my booking ages ago for 5 flights with Air Asia - unfortunately when I log in it says I have no flights booked... hmm. Air Asia did not answer my emails. I've now been trying to ring customer services for 8 days but cannot get through. I'm currently on hold again and have been for 40 minutes and am wondering if there's actually anyone at the call centre or if this is just another waste of time and money… Read Full Review

Air Asia ruined my vacation and cost me my time and boat load of money.
Furthermore, when I tried to reach them for a refund over the phone, I waited on the phone for roughly an hour, before giving up and going to the airport. When I got to the airport I waited in line for an hour and a half trying to get a refund. How did they compensate me for the trouble? They gave me a full refund, when it is really against their policy… Read Full Review

Last Nov 18 We went bac to manila and landed on Clark airport. The immigration guy was an old man, he was so slow in processing the passports. We got caught up late in getting the luggage which I checked in. I flew with other airlines so I thought it safe to check in ur heavy bag. Plus I got perfumes there which are not allowed to be hand carried. I waited for my luggage until I was the only one left with my partner. I thought the last bag looked like mine from afar, but when it was in front of… Read Full Review

Written on: 26/11/2008 by whiteflyman (1 review written)

So, Air Asia X is starting its long-awaited London service in March 2009. Today's papers are carrying full-page ads saying that there is a special introductory booking offer for 4 days only, at UK £99 one way for the "cheap" seats for flights from March to October. Try booking online and see what happens! After going backwards and forwards through "unavailable" dates I put together a return flight London to KL in April. After adding checked baggage, meals and seat selection this "low cost"… Read Full Review

Roger Mustoe's Response to whiteflyman's Review

Written on: 03/02/2010

Agreed, far too expensive for what you get. The headline prices seem to be reasonable but by the time you've added in taxes, food and additional luggage expenses then it doesn't seem anywhere near such a good deal and when you take into account the inconvenience of the flight timings and Stansted's location just forget it and fly with somebody else and you won't regret it.

Trueonemike's Response to whiteflyman's Review

Written on: 19/03/2009

I also have to agree with you. I have flown Air Asia several times within the far east for short haul trips, I am quite impressed with their prices and their service is OK. When they were selling flights to London for £99 one way I decided to take a look and could not find one £99 flight. Their standard advertised £179 one way flight to KL is not that cheap.....if you book a return then after taxes the price reaches around £440, add the cost of meals, extra baggage on top of the allocated 15KG and inflight entertainment then you could be paying around £500. Also consider the cost and inconvenience of getting to Stanstead for a flight which leaves 1.25am and getting home from a flight which arrives back at midnight then realise that you could have booked a comfortable scheduled flight from Heathrow or Gatwick for £450 - £500. Come on Air Asia....Who are you fooling?

Good points, nothing, looks cheap, but only until they hit you with all the hidden fees. Bad points, in my opinion bad airline, they try to nickel and dime you at every step. Very poor service. When you book your ticket, they don't notify you of the fact that they don't carry your luggage for free, maximum weight is 15 Kg total and you have to pay $15 for each extra kilo of your luggage… Read Full Review

It's true that they charge for checked in baggage. However, this fact is clearly mentioned on their website. They allow you to carry hand baggage up to 7kgs (with size restrictions). I think this is a reasonable deal - you can't expect the world with such cheap tickets.
