been to magic rock gardens in benidorm for 1 week in april. 2010
was delayed for returning home for four days due to volcanic eruptions
we were with thomas cook through travel republic we cannot speak highly
enough of thomas cook and magic rock garden hotel for all their help
we did not have to worry about anything they were fantastic
the hotel and staff were really helpful. the food was wonderful
and everyhing was hot. we will certainly go there again.

Appreciate Travel Republic is very busy, but with all due respect, so is everyone else in the travel industry. What I'm trying to understand is what benefit it is booking any trip through Travel Republic? I booked thinking it would be beneficial using a travel agency, only to find, when in a crises, there seems none. I raised 2 queries on Manage My Booking, emailed Steve on the 21st, reviewed TR here on the 22nd, and today the 26th, he posted a comment on my review saying I should contact him as he is replying to all emails!! He has not replied mine after 5 days!

I appreciate the problems people experience at the moment - but not being able to make contact through e-mail or telephone is pretty poor - a test of any good business and its customer practice is its ability to handle difficult times (as well as good times)! all I wanted was to get my accommodation canceled because my flights were canceled. Had no replies, no answer on the telephone just disconnected - and don't forget these calls are 0845 numbers so there is going to be a charge on the phone… Read Full Review

The previous review could've been written by me !! Experience so similar - we were due to fly out to Tampa on a BA flight (who have been fantastic in keeping their website updated and also in rebooking our flights) on 18th April but on 17th it was cancelled. Everyone else we dealt with to rebook flights, change insurance, hotels (thankfully because we are staying with friends our immediate accommodation was sorted) were fantastic. Booked a hotel through Travel Republic which we needed to rechedule as our flight delayed due to volcanic ash. Impossible to contact them - lodged a request through the website on 18th April (no action). Emailed, and phoned 3 times that we actually got through to a customer service person (lots of other times we held for ages and then got cut off). Each time on phone they said "they will deal with today". Think this is simply to get you off the phone. As we are due at the hotel in Florida… Read Full Review

Not even a courtesy email to say they have received my request and will be dealt with in due course. I booked through travel republic, due to fly on 17th April 2010, did not even get a text telling me it had been cancelled. Just as well I watch the news and checked with airport. Also it was flight only, eventually when I got though to their operater, was told that I had to go back to travel republic as they were the principle booking agent. What a shambles this company is!
Along with everyone else I have found Travel Republic impossible to contact- I have been trying for nearly a week now, I logged a query on 18th April and still no response other than an automated email which is of no relevance to me whatsoever.
We booked a DIY holiday using flythomascook for the flights- full refund received, Essential Travel for Manchester Airport Parking- full refund received and also Sunshine.co.uk for one of our hotel bookings- full refund… Read Full Review

We were meant to fly on 21st April to Cyprus from Stansted, heard nothing from Travel Republic only the basic information on their website on the 20th April. Have tried so many times to call and like everyone else, phone just goes dead and cannot get through. No email, or anything, no reply to email sent through 'manage your booking' don't know what else to do next. I have used Travel Republic a number of times without incident. This year I had booked a holiday to Portugal with them, and had to cancel. Travel Republic were brilliant. They were polite, helpful and rearranged the holiday with no problem.
Remembering this, I booked with them for another holiday later this year. When I tried to add another person on to the booking, the hotel concerned were less than helpful. Actually, it is for an AA convention, and the hotel likes AA guests to book… Read Full Review

The situation caused by the volcanic ash has really shown up what a poor setup travel Republic is. We have had no information whatsoever. Their website has a few totally useless FAQ's none of which answer any of our concerns. No response to emails, phones cut off, even Thomas Cook can't help. Our friends,cancelled with another agent, are now on holiday having been contacted & rebooked within 2 days. I have contacted my CC provider and Trading Standards re this. Having our flight cancelled on the 15th April in the morning we eventually contacted travel republic customer services they sent us an e'mail to say we needed to re-book our apartment and thats as far as we've got. nobody has been in touch since. We have tried phoning approx 50-60 times tried sending e'mails even to this person called steve and still nothing. We got an e'mail and a text message today to say that flights resumed, they are a day late with this information. It is exactly a week… Read Full Review

I'm a travel agent currently trying to help customers who were abandoned by Travel Republic. Quite honestly anybody foolish enough to book with these amateurs deserves everything they get. Absolutely nil customer service, I contacted them on behalf of my client and posed as my client and the utter rubbish the guy was speaking about cancelling and rebooking due to the volcanic disruption was laughable. <br/>I am concerned by that fact that you did not give the correct advice to the people who you were trying to assist. You would/should know that it is the responsibility of the airline or tour operator to get customers home in the event of a delay/cancellation of a flight. This information is available on our website, and also on the ABTA website (you are ABTA arent you?).
