My website was timing out and didn't load anymore after ssl installation by 123-reg. they didn't install my ssl correct and tried to fix it.. 7 x !!!!!!!!!! belive it or not, they f..... up 7 times. every time i called, the customer support said my domain is pointing to the wrong ip address and pointed it each time to another weird ip. So you can imagine how annoying it was to wait 7 x 24-72 hours for your dns change to propagate. What they didn't relize was that the ssl was never installed… Read Full Review

“Painfully slow and awful customer support”

After an "upgrade" from them the site has been painfully slow. Their support are totally unhelpful. I downloaded the site from 123reg and uploaded it to another host as a test and the page loaded in 5 seconds. On 123 it was taking up to 90 seconds - their response? Exactly my experience also. I am a web developer and host a number of stage sites under my domain as I am working on different projects. Since the 'upgrade' (read most definitely 'downgrade') load time has been consistently appalling to point where pages regularly fail to load entirely. FTP connectivity is also extremely poor with connectivity being slow, and breaking entirely multiple times every single time I FTP to my domain. Access to phpMyAdmin is equally poor.

Absolutely unacceptable and I will be moving to alternative hosting unless 123-reg can offer a swift and permanent resolution to the problems they have introduced.

“Rubbish, Rubbish, Rubbish”

Bought hosting to use Joomla. Servers are far too slow. Tech support were of no use whatsoever. Tranferred to other hosting company and my Joomla site is extremely fast, as it should be. Have had problems using phpmyadmin also, keep getting logged out. If you have any tech knowledge at all, avoid hosting with 123-reg. Watsed my hard earned cash. “Domain Name Transfer”

I had an issue with a domain name, had a few days to renew it and could not get access to the account to renew the domain, because the domain was in another account by my current host. 123-reg resolved the problem quickly with the help from the team i managed to renew the domain before it was due to run out. The cummunication and advice was excellent between the revelant department and myself. I would recommend you register your domain with 123-reg. I signed up with 123-reg.co.uk in February 2011. I was looking for UK hosting and found them and thought i would give it a try. The first website I tried to setup with 123-reg was a nightmare. Other hosting companies install wordpress directly to the root directory but now 123-reg. They can onyl install to a directory so the website appears as www.domain.com/wordpress instead of www.domain.com. So I asked 123-reg if they could sort it out. “REALLY slow at issuing SSL certificates”

They advertise that they'll usually be issued in 10 minutes, but I'm still waiting almost 24 hours later. Stuck at "Waiting for verification checks" but I've had no notice of what verification they're waiting for and whether I can help with it. This isn't good enough when you're waiting to get the certificate back up on a server. AVOID and buy SSL from a supplier that has a clue that generally these things are needed quickly. I have a single domain with 123-reg and I really wish I didn't. There support is awful. All I want to do is change the DNS (a five minute job I can do myself) but their system has an 'error' and they have taken five days and have still not sorted it. I know they are a webfusion company and so the support is bound to be bad but they really are beyond a joke. “Auto-renewal scam merchants - awful, awful, awful!!”

I've no experience of the quality of their hosting, but I got caught in their much-maligned auto-renew. I won the argument and was refunded by Paypal, but I will never, ever, ever, EVER use them again, and I would caution everyone else to avoid them too. “Don't ever go with 123-reg - especially with wordpress!”

There servers are so slow and cannot handle wordpress or database driven websites at all. They said over christmas that they were spending a couple of days moving all Database websites to new servers. it is now January 12th 2012 and they told me today it will be a few more days. Agree! I got here googling around to see if I was the only person suddenly having difficulty updating sites via FTP (using Dreamweaver, but I also tried Filezilla) on my 123-reg sites. Sites with other ISPs (webhost.ie, LCN and PlusNet) are as fine as always. I'll give them a chance if they are in transition to a better place, but it isn't good right now.

Peter - That is outrageous - is that your business website?

If it is, and it has effected your takings for the week you need to speak to someone high up and voice your concern (and don't take no for an answer), I would say a couple hours downtime is bad enough in terms of business, but 5 days is simply unacceptable!

fail company. we couldn't change our DNS on 123reg domains for the past 5 days as they are 'copying stuff over to a new server'.. Ridiculous that they imply that 5 days of locking customers out is normal.

I managed to make them move our site to a new server (which they were in the process of doing) quicker than they were going to do it (had been waiting four weeks) by publicly commenting on there facebook page - So far the site seems to be working fine (touch wood) so an interim solution for you could be the same and then when the time is right move to a better provider

I have been with 123-reg since July 2011 and all I have to say is NEVER try them. From the start there have been nothing but problems. I have the unlimited shared hosting package and unlimited it is not. I have 5 sites on my hosting package and each of them have a small amount of traffic and all suffer from the server failing and end up losing money. “My SSL was never sent & non-existent support.”

123-Reg is by far the worlds worst company, I bought an SSL Certificate with them and after 24 hours I get an e-mail saying they failed to generate my SSL and to send my CSR again. I replied to the e-mail with the CSR again and about 5 - 6 hours later they tell me it's failed and to send as attachment. I copy it into notepad and upload as an attachment, a few hours later I was told it was successful and I'd get an e-mail from GlobalSign within the next 24 hours. I was formerly with Supanmaes, a great company, who were unfortunately bought out by this most horrendous company. I recently upgraded to their unlimited package which is a complete joke. Although it boasts unlimited everything i.e. sites, applications etc. you are actually very limited by the resource they allow you. “123 Reg just exceeded my expectations by a mile!”

I wanted help in redirecting my emails when I added my domain to wordpress. They were not just helpful with advice, but they made the changes for me and the online chat facility is instant and very user friendly. When I called them I was feeling overwhelmed in a very "techie" process, with little help from worpress, but 123 reg just made the changes for me whilst I waited. “Cannot remove payment details”

OK, some may not consider this an issue, but I have just tried to remove my payment details which have been stored without my permission. Usually, I get a reminder and pay using a credit / debit card. I get reminders around 60 days before the domain name expires. Plenty of time, no? Anyway, I've heard of customer's domains being renewed when they do not wish them to be, so I'd rather not let them store my card details. Anyway, continued:

It basically says on their wen site you can remove payment details, but when you call them, they won't do it. It's now part of their terms. Never used to be.

They're my details and I should be able to remove them. I believe they use these tactics to fleece people when they forget to opt out of the renewal process.

I've previously had payment issues with Webfusion, a sister company of 123-reg, so just don't trust them

Don't bother with these guys. Spend your money with a company who cares.

What a joke.
