had excellent service and support from 123 reg, why would any-one employ a website designer when you can do it yourself with 123 reg support, I knew nothing about websites, but ours is up and running without a hitch and the best bit, we have full control instead of having to ring to get some-one to change it we can do it ourselves. I guess you were extremely unlucky.

I have used these guys for years and everyone I have ever spoke to was most helpful/knowledgeable.

If I were you I would communicate via email, keep a record of any transcripts and if you were spoken to in a rude way you could do something about it. I never call them I always use the online ticket system. This allows time for them to read and reread and understand your questions to provide the correct responses.

...I wouldn't discount them down to your one experience.

I actually sent in a complaint via recorded delivery and never heard back. I followed this up with emails and no one seemed that concerned about resolving the issue.

I don't complain about services lightly, preferinig to give the company the opportunity to put things right. I don't give bad reviews without first exploring all avenues in an attempt to find a solution. I don't think this is an isolated incident as other reviewers have also complained. This site gives users an opportunity to give feedback on services and products, people can then make up their own minds on whether to take on board what has been said.

You say that you've never called them but why shouldn't we be able to call in for assistance if needed? That's what customer service is for. If they can't cope with calls then they shouldn't list a helpline.

However, I'm pleased to hear that you've had a good experince with this company, perhaps they've pulled their socks up, which is a good thing for them and for their customers.

“Great for people who want some advanced configuration!”

I have been using 123-reg to host domain names for several years and have only good things to say. I have also recently purchased a VPS and an SSL certificate from them, both have been great. Since I first started using 123-reg I have been doing a Computer Science degree so I have been doing my fair share of advanced DNS configuration as well as setting up and securing my new 123-reg VPS. 123-reg today also updated their reverse DNS record on one of my domain names to my new hostname on my VPS… Read Full Review

have an email account with these and they have taken payment for the renewal of an account 3 times totalling £85 or more. Despite being told that the payment would be refunded it still hasnt and then they take the payment again!!!! Customer service is tricky to get hold of and not entirely brilliant. “123Reg will not give answers on an apology”

I had my website's hosting with 123Reg. It is set up to automatically review on Jan2nd. My card details were up to date as I had renewed the domain name in November.... so the notices that it was due for renewal were expected. 123Reg set up for the debit to go through on 24th December- was anyone working then? Recently bought domain name, asked for simple help to configure outlook. Problem is that support advertise they open till 5.00pm...but chatline off line from 4.30pm.This happened twice...then there is no 24/7 support. I've registered perhaps 30 or so domains over the years, and then hosted them for various people, so I've had non-standard DNS -- A, CNAME, MX, etc. Mostly I've used 123-reg mail exchangers and DNS servers (but not always) and they've worked brilliantly.
