“Appalling! Steer well clear”

I wanted to support a UK hosting service and signed upto 123-reg. They have been RUBBISH. My site took on average about 25 seconds to load with 123-reg. I can't actually talk to anyone. When you do live chat and they can't help (invariably they can't) they asked if there was anythin else they could help me with.....gggrrrrr! This whole episode has been frustrating. Hello Nerys,

I'm looking for a full refund and thats all.

I sent several tickets, spoke to your Shared Support Manager, who didn't resolve the issue and gave up on me so sent more tickets. Couldn't get through to anyone. So I've done my trying. Here's my feedback:
1. Have enough capability on your shared servers. And don't try and upsell a VPS because your shared servers are hopeless. Thats bad!
2. Actually sort out the issue the customer is contacting you about and NEVER NEVER NEVER ask if there is anything else we can sort out when you haven't resolved the main complaint. That really annoys us.
3. Have the courage to say sorry. I make mistakes too. I notice that you didn't feel it necessary to do so in your reply.

I am formally writing to your company for a refund.

“You must beware 123 -reg when using PayPal”

I bought a domain name which I chose not to have on auto renew, it was a .TV extension costing £41.99 per year. Instead I would wait for the reminder and decide then if I wanted to renew the domain. I chose not to renew it, but because I had paid for it using Paypal, 123-reg could debit my account Paypal anyway...grrrr...and because it is not a tangible product, ie it was a Domain name, the transaction was not eligible for PayPal's Buyer Protection. “Very satisfied and received good online support today”

I have always found the 123reg.co.uk site to be clear and easy to use, especially compared to some others. The only thing I have ever found a little unclear was the transfer process, as I could not find how to track a transfer via my account once ordered, but before the EPP code request. It's only a small criticism, because when I contacted the support service online they were very helpful. They were quick to respond and very clear, so everything was sorted out very quickly. I bought my domains a year or so ago and at the time purchased web hosting. The web hosting dod not work at all so after much messing around I got (what I thought to be) a refund. I am surprised with some of the nagative reviews here. Perhaps it is because my needs are relatively simple. 123-Reg customer support has always been quick and effective. Their business philosophy is far superior to my previous supplier who trapped you into unwanted solutions and charged you for services without warning. 123-Reg always give you let you know of upcoming renewals and have credited me even though the mistake was mine. “Cheap but support and transparency hopeless”

I have a lot of services with 123-reg because they are cheap, especially if you have a lot of domain names. 1) Support: It is very poor and the email support tickets often palm you off. They also ignore problem entirely. For instance I had some shared hosting with wordpress which just does not work properly with them. “Terrible support when it matters”

OK, 123 reg are cheap so you don't really expect much support...but even given that it's terrible. Granted, their 1st line support can be good, excellent even - if it's a simple question. But that's not when you need it...you can find that sort of info out on forums across the internet. “Charges for services not provided”

Customer service is awful and business practices are even worse!! Charge for a hosting service 2 years after the domain/hosting was transferred away from them!! Asks for domain renewals that have also been transferred away!! So you can understand why they were transferred away. Years ago they were a cost effective solution now they squeeze money from where they have no rights to try and squeeze it. Best avoided it in my opinion… Read Full Review

“123-reg are AWFUL”

I have been using 123-reg for about 4 years and I feel like a fool for continuing to use their shoddy service. My website often disappears from view. The bandwidth speeds are awful. Their control panel is AWFUL. They are stupidly overpriced for the services they offer. My biggest complaint is their auto renewal and cancellation services. To turn off auto renewal is a complete faf. To remove a payment option requires you to locate the correct page and instead of simply selecting remove payment… Read Full Review

“123 Reg as bad as it gets”

In 3 months our VPS has been down 5 times. They are the times we know of. Once for over 18 hours. Submitting tickets will eventually sort of fix the problem. The people answering the tickets don't appear to possess any technical skills what so ever. The reasons for the outages and other problems (45 second page load times) started to be reused. “Cancellation”

I cancelled with 123.reg and signed up with Clikpic where they had the cheek to take out £72.00 out of my account for just the hosting!!! I signed in and emailed them asking for a refund and they emailed back saying they had responded on the site.
