This Dansai 852 DVD player is the most versatile MP3 player I could find other than the LG logix from Jeremy Beadle. It is less than £100 and does more than players found at over £300.
Best entry level DVD player around. (read more)

i had the dansai 852 DVD player bought for me by my wife for an xmas pressie. everything seemed great for the first 17 minutes of "natural born killers" and then the image froze on the screen.
i assumed it was a dirty disc so i took it out and cleaned it. i put it back in and it came up "no disc loaded" and refused to play.
due to my lack of knowledge i returned the disc to the store of purchase and got another, assuming this was the problem. lo and behold the same problem has started to... (read more)

Want to know the code to remove macrovision and region coding??
Here it is:
Turn on the DVD player without a dvd in it. Press setup on the remote. Now press stop, ffw, rrw and the secret menu will appear.
The ffw and rrw are the top and bottom buttons on the circular button panel.

I was looking for a nice budget DVD player and was considering machines in the £150-£200 range but I opted for the Dansai 852 and still had some money left for DVDs. The picture and sound are excellent and the S-Video connexion is the one to use.
The only negative point was that our machine broke down in the first hour but Tesco happily provided an immediate replacement that has worked perfectly. (read more)

Bought this DVD player as a second player for the kids, just after Xmas. I currently have a Yelo 800 DVD player, which is another budget player but again it plays anything you throw at it.
The Dansai 852 player looks neat in brushed silver and has all the required input/output connections. One thing I noticed was that the menus etc are the same as the Yelo, but have been updated and improved ie MP3 now has a 'Play Random' feature and the 'Mummy Returns' no longer shows 'captions' which I... I've got a Pioneer DV-525 and this Dansai 852 is almost better then Pioneer. Excellent picture so sharp and colorful. The sound is amazing, so full of life. The bass is more powerful than DV-525. The question is, how long will this player keep up with it's quality??
If you're after a nice player that supports Mp3, don't pick this one, even though it plays it. It sucks!! (read more)

Bought this to act as a cd player for my stereo. After about half an hour my existing samsung 511 was replaced and is now in the bedroom. The dansai does everything I want - except output the audio via phono and optical at the same time (i'm sure I can live with that)
Well done TESCO's (read more)

Bought this Dansai 852 from Tesco yesterday. Tried the hack, but I don't have any region 1 DVDs to see if it works.
Picture and sound quality seems to be very good, but it's my first one so I can't compare to any other machines. Excellent price, and so far I am happy with it. However, it doesn't seem to play a video track on an audio CD we have tried this morning. (read more)

The Dansai 852 is a nice silver colour with two phono sockets with volume controls on the front. At the back is an opto-coupler together with usual scart, phono and S-VHS sockets. Do not turn these receivers on to the side with a disc inside you will loose it and have to go inside after it! (read more)

Bought on Dec 24th at Tesco for £99.49. on the spot decision, thought the Dansai 852 DVD player would be ok as a spare DVD player for the kids at such a low price.
Opened the box and was impressed by the quality of build and looks. Played region 2 DVD's as good as my expensive Pioneer player. Found multi region hack on web, within a few minutes all my region 1 discs played without problems. Tried a Video CD worked great. At this point I began searching for any CD's to post in. Music CD's... (read more)
