Written on: 07/04/2010

I am embarassed that I pretended to enjoy it. I should have trusted my gut feeling and left during the interval. I only stayed out of respect for my wife who booked this as a family treat! It is the only occasion I have seen an audience sat in quiet disbelief, totaly unroused by it's name-sake song "We Will Rock You". We weren't rocked, or even mildly stirred for that matter. Poor old Freddy must be turning in his grave… Read Full Review

Written on: 26/03/2010

Oh my gosh I am flabbergasted. How this show is in its eighth year of business is astounding.

Having read the reviews on this there are definately more good than bad and so we decided the bad were just being fussy. Oh how wrong we were.

It is a show thats earning off the sheer popularity of queen. The story is a disgrace, the script is even worse, the actors are ok but its hard for them to shine in such a poor show.

An earlier review summed this all up - if you like queen you will… Read Full Review

Written on: 22/03/2010

When I was 12 years old we had an after-school drama club in which I participated. One day one of the boys brought in a musical comic play which he had written and would like us to perform. It was better than 'We Will Rock You'.

Some might appreciate the absolutely jaw-slackening awfulness of the 'plot' and the travesty of a 'script' of this show as I had to pretend to when watching this with my girlfriend at the weekend and indeed most other punters in the audience seemed to do so. This… Read Full Review

i dont know what to make of we will rock you. if your looking for something that gets your toes tapping and hands clapping then it ticks all the boxes. if your looking for a great show that makes your mind tap as well as your toes then this isnt for you.

its made up of great tracks and some good dancing, which lets be honest isnt hard when its based on queen. its been stopped from being a really great show however by a very very very poor script. why they did this is a mystery. they had… Read Full Review

Written on: 09/03/2010

i watched this show on the weekend and thought it was OK at best. ive watched shows for over 25 years and have seen a lot of good and bad. this fits into the bad category.

there are some good performances from the cast in what is a very poorly written show. mr elton has written the titles of queen tracks in a long line and submitted it as a script. next get a cast to dance about while the tracks are played, throw in some comedy lines for good luck and viola, you have a money making… Read Full Review

“If you like Queen you will hate this show. ”

Written on: 08/03/2010

If you like Queen you will hate this show.
If you like Queen songs and dont care how they sound or who plays them then youl love it.

Personally I hated it.

If they had a half decent story line it would be something but this was both awful and disrespectful. Basically the whole show is a line up of performance artists playing air guitar to queen tracks. Id like to say i was being harsh here but im not - this is all it was.

Ben Elton should seriously take a look at what hes done here… Read Full Review

Written on: 26/01/2010

Like everyone else, I had heard mixed reviews about "We Will Rock You", but I enjoy Queen's music and felt that it would have to be particularly bad to make a mess of their tunes. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised by the whole production. Initially when things got started I was a little sceptical about the storyline and felt that it was a mixture of the TV series "Red Dwarf" weirdness with a touch of "Young Ones" crudity meshed together with the serious, big brother tones of George… Read Full Review

I dont think there are mixed reviews - there are honest reviews aying how terrible it is and there are other people paid to try and uprate the reviews by people employed by the musical.......

Written on: 25/01/2010

Irritating show and it had to be stopped twice due to 'technical difficulties', every time Curly from Coronation St. came on stage. This was on the opening night in the O2. The male lead was not strong enough, although he worked well singing with Scary Bush, who was genuinely good and had all the best lines. The choreography was poor. Kept hoping they would up the ante a bit but they didn't and some good dance scenes would have really helped the incredibly boring story line. The pregnant… Read Full Review

Great to see such professional shows in Ireland. "Scary Bush,s" voice is amazing and her quick wit very funny. Havin said that all vocals are excellent.

I'm not a fan of musicals; I've never been to one and I don't watch them on telly.
However, my partner and I were given tickets to see We Will Rock You as a present so we headed along to the opening night at The O2, Dublin.
I was pleasantly surprised!
It was brilliant and even if you're not a musical fan, you will be entertained by a cast full of brilliant actors & fantastic singers!
Kevin Kennedy, who played Curly in Corrie, plays Pop, Brenda Edwards of X Factor fame plays Killer Queen and… Read Full Review

Written on: 12/01/2010

I love musicals and consider myself a die hard musical fan. However, I was very disappointed with We Will Rock You and will not be recommending it to friends and family. I love Queen music and thought that at the very least I would enjoy that part of the performance, ie the songs if not the storyline/acting. However the songs were screeched rather than sung and the storyline so poor that even if the cast were good actors it would be impossible to know it with the material they have to work… Read Full Review

Absolutely fantastic. Loads of great songs with superb performances from cast and band. Lighting design and use of their big screens deserve a special mention, it was truly stunning at times. Sets also very good with quick turnarounds. Went with family and we all loved it to bits. Full standing ovation at the end in a sold out theatre. Much funnier than I had expected! Some jokes crude but presented in a way to go above the heads of younger ones (I had a couple of "why is everybody laughing"… Read Full Review

A brilliant show - not what i expected however going with an open mind lead to my enjoyment.
For the people who have left negative reviews - what a shame!!!! the last 30 minutes were truly brilliant - fantastic cast and fantastic music - the singers certainly made those famous pop artists who stared in the tribute concert at Wembley look like true amateurs.

I dont recognise the show I went to from some of the reviews here. I loved the show, so much so I went twice within a month. I am a massive Queen fan and was prepared to be disappointed but instead was bowled over. I am a regular theatre goer and have seen about 20 different shows including the most popular, Les Mis, Phantom, Miss Saigon blah blah blah -some more than once so am not reviewing on the strength of lack of musical theatre knowledge. Enjoy the show for what it is - fun, good… Read Full Review

Absolute RUBBISH!! Complete waste of time and a lot of Money. We left at the very earliest opportunity (Interval), as did a lot of other people, as we could not stand to endure this complete TRIPE for a second longer.
Terrible acting, Pathetic script, Un-funny - out date one liners, diabolical singing, no atmosphere, No singing along...Could of been written by a 10 year old.
Ben Elton should be extremely ashamed of himself.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - Not even recommended for die hard Queen fans… Read Full Review

Written on: 22/12/2009

A terrible show. An insult to QUEEN.Freddie Mercury should be wincing in his grave. Dreadful script, not worthy of a year 8 school production, full of cheap innuendo. The plot was a rehash of the story in any number of movies about rock n' roll not being properly understood and particularly bad plagiarism at that. The acting was without exception, terrible. The twangy voices made me want to cry. We left at the interval, ASAP… Read Full Review
