My car has been deemed a complete write off because of an accident which involved a double collision not my fault. The moronic garage 'Accidental Bodyworks' based in Exeter have claimed it is a total write off because it is dented at the back but in my opinion is still ok to drive. They evaluated that the repairs are over £1600 (What a con)! Cooperative Insurance therefore deemed it a total loss and provided me with a hire vehicle, they intimated was going to be paid by the third party… Read Full Review

they were trying automaticaly to deduct car insurance for £548 for new year but i called them before they done it to stop them, as i switch to another insurer.they promised not to do it.and after couple days they done it anyway. after that they charge me £23 on the top of that for cancelation. i called them and explained situation and they ''promised'' refund and NO CHARGE for canceling(probably just to getrid of me ASAP). i got my refund but they still charged me what i've been promised NOT… Read Full Review

All insurance companies are interested in is getting your money, then when it comes round to making a genuine claim they find some feeble excuse so as not to pay out, and the Co-op are THE WORST at this game. It's the same with their house and building insurance policies, totally worthless. Fifty years ago the Co-op was a reputable company to deal with, now it is run by rogues. The reason their premiums are so low is because they never pay out, they would rather make some lame feeble excuse. I… Read Full Review

Changed my vehicle 2 months into my policy from 1.4 Kangoo to 1.6diesel CMax I was paying around £220 in instalments. They wanted £90 extra for the CMax plus a policy change fee which I thought was extortionate as the cars are basically the same group. When I asked about cancelling the policy I was told this would cost me around £90 pounds plus a change fee, .Robbery!! I still have my policy with them but never again. If this happened on the High Street it would be called… Read Full Review

Honestly I was already forwarned about them but i didnt listen. Their price quote my be interesting but i hope you never had to claim should it be any problem with the Car. My car was stolen and they denied my claim for silly reason. when they interview over the phone, they treat you like your making a faulse claim..it almost like they insinuate that you are scamming...very rude and unfriendly... … Read Full Review

I am now in my fifth year with Co-Op car insurance. My premium was originally £340 now it is £600 five years later even though with four years no claims bonus which is supposed to be worth some kind of discount. This price is still the cheapest on the comparision web sites. In January I was quoted £250 but when I went to get the policy six weeks later it had gone. That was with Saga they wanted £800 when they requoted me. The CO OP quoted me £280 in January and £600 six weeks later… Read Full Review

Great at taking your premiums but when you have a claim they're totally disinterested. Never phone you back - you have to keep chasing them - and after going through the endless "your call is important to us".
I reckon their philosophy is 'ignore them and they'll go away'
worst company I've dealt with in 45 years!!… Read Full Review

I truly cannot believe how awful Co Operative car insurance are as a company. Having seen their adverts and promise of great customer service, I really thought they'd be a great company to insure with. Completely wrong!
I have never, ever had such hassle and stress with an insurance company before. The customer service of their staff is terrible and I have had numerous heated telephone calls with staff who refuse to listen and just talk over you.
Staff also give conflicting information and… Read Full Review

I really recommend the Co-operative, mainly because they are very friendly, trustworthy and helpful. I always feel that they are really trying to get things right, rather than a large company trying to take advantage of you. They are also one of the cheapest car insurance companies (for us anyway). I have used them for the last three cars we had.
We recently had to claim with them. Although the claims process took a few weeks, they settled without problem and gave us a good payment for… Read Full Review

My car was bumbed from the back last year 2010 in November. The coopeerative made there claim from the other drivers insuarer. Today is Februaury. They still havent paid me out. Everytime I call I am put on hold for more 40min and then they just cut the phone. They are con artist just like their director Mr Stuart Roberts. Unfortunately, they are dealiing with the wrong person this time. There are somethings you can do and get away, but in life you have people like me, that when you cross a… Read Full Review

After a horrendous experience trying to renew with Direct Line I thought I'd try the old Co-op (good feelings from my youth). Checked on moneysupermarket.com and they were also the cheapest quote.
Applied on-line - got the same price as moneysupermarket.com, filled out the forms and insurance started.
Documents arrived within a few days, all correct.
I called customer services to adjust the date of the DD - and only moan was that the first DD was taken one month before I expected it to be -… Read Full Review

They did not renew automatically so I shopped around and found a cheaper quote. I then had to ask for proof of no claims status. First phone call they tried to persuade me to change back to them, promised to send the proof and didn't. Called them 9 days later and they said they's send it straight away. 5 days later my new insurers are impatient. I asked the coop to fax it. They said they would and didn't. After 10 days got my piece of paper.Never again.Terrible service… Read Full Review

Avoid this insurer! Our experience with this organisation will give you a sense of the abysmal management and administration that they must have. Having agreed and paid a premium to insure our son as a driver until the next renewal date, we found via the police that Coop had not actually insured him. When informed of this they corrected it but demanded an extra premium. They had to concede however that the extra premium had already been agreed and paid and documents issued. There the matter… Read Full Review

If I could have given no stars I would have. My car was stolen from a private parking area nearly two years ago. I had just completed work on the vehicle and had all paperwork to show what had been done. Car was valued at £1000 when I purchased it and insured through Co-Op. As soon as I became aware of my car having been stolen I contacted the police and the 24 hours claim line. I was then told to call back during opening hours to follow up. I did this and was sent some paperwork. Filled out… Read Full Review

These folks are terrible to deal with during a claim. I used to be with LV, but price convinced me to go with the co-op. I wish I hadnt changed over to them. My car went on fire in my driveway at home, and it was still there 3 weeks later!! They couldnt pick it up due to the weather! after a whole afternoon on the phone, I finally arranged for a local garage to pick it up at the co-ops expense. The guy arrived and did nothing but complain and swear at my wife and child!
Im still waiting for a… Read Full Review
