My car was bumbed from the back last year 2010 in November. The coopeerative made there claim from the other drivers insuarer. Today is Februaury. They still havent paid me out. After a horrendous experience trying to renew with Direct Line I thought I'd try the old Co-op (good feelings from my youth). Checked on moneysupermarket.com and they were also the cheapest quote.
Applied on-line - got the same price as moneysupermarket.com, filled out the forms and insurance started.
Documents arrived within a few days, all correct.

They did not renew automatically so I shopped around and found a cheaper quote. I then had to ask for proof of no claims status. First phone call they tried to persuade me to change back to them, promised to send the proof and didn't. Called them 9 days later and they said they's send it straight away. 5 days later my new insurers are impatient. I asked the coop to fax it. They said they would and didn't. Do not go anywhere near this company they are con artists I made a claim four months ago and it is still on going and every time I phone they put me on hold for 20 minutes then promise to look into it but they are all trained to lie and lie till you are fed up and up for god sake do not go any where near this company… Read Full Review

Avoid this insurer! Our experience with this organisation will give you a sense of the abysmal management and administration that they must have. Having agreed and paid a premium to insure our son as a driver until the next renewal date, we found via the police that Coop had not actually insured him. When informed of this they corrected it but demanded an extra premium. They had to concede however that the extra premium had already been agreed and paid and documents issued. If I could have given no stars I would have. My car was stolen from a private parking area nearly two years ago. I had just completed work on the vehicle and had all paperwork to show what had been done. Car was valued at £1000 when I purchased it and insured through Co-Op. As soon as I became aware of my car having been stolen I contacted the police and the 24 hours claim line. I was then told to call back during opening hours to follow up. These folks are terrible to deal with during a claim. I used to be with LV, but price convinced me to go with the co-op. I wish I hadnt changed over to them. My car went on fire in my driveway at home, and it was still there 3 weeks later!! They couldnt pick it up due to the weather! after a whole afternoon on the phone, I finally arranged for a local garage to pick it up at the co-ops expense. The guy arrived and did nothing but complain and swear at my wife and child!

Possibly the worst insurers. Ridiculous customer service, been waiting 5 weeks for my car to be fixed and the excuse they churned out was "i have to understand they need christmas holidays" (when my accident was in NOVEMBER) and that other people have had accidents too. Please avoid! You constantly have to chase them up, they do not phone you back on their own accord. After a horrendous car accident, the Co-op paid out within 4 weeks, and the follow up phone calls etc were great - staff were helpful, and they were really kind. I recommended them to several family members who have all had sterling service. The prices have been good too.

Value for money, but the money they make from you phoning them for claims makes up for it. A simple claim of theft of content from my car has taken 2 months and 11 phone calls and still no result. The claim handlers do not care and just keep making excuses. They say they will call back but wont. They all give different instructions and are always busy.

Having previously been a victim of insure wiser (telling you that you qualified for no-claims and then rejecting the evidence after 14 days was up) I contacted Co-op. I should have gone to them first. They were brilliant:-
1) Really Good Price
2) Peally professional on the phone and they repeated back what I had told them to confirm they had understood me.
3) They rang me when I asked them to.
4) My policy arrived 3 working days later.

A month after taking out the policy and the money being taken form my credit card my car insurance was cancelled by the co-op because they decided I was too higher risk. No claim or accident occurred during this period. I was left in South Germany with my car and unable to drive it, the only reply the unhelpful man gave was "there is nothing I can do"

Run for the hills!!!! These people can't be serious! Without exception the worst company I have ever had any dealings with at any time, period! (yes, even worse than BT, but only just).
Horriffic customer support, including repetitive errors in policy details, addresses, names, dates, unauthorised cancellation of policies etc...
Withheld due refunds of hundreds of pounds with out explaination or good reason (still attempting to sort out owed funds of £933.38!).

Do not use these people!!!!! Co-op canceled my insurance after a fortnight with no explanation. To find out why I had to call a premium rate number. They were canceling because I hadn't informed them of a claim that I withdrew as it wasn't worth claiming for, my garage fixed for free or nominal charge. I insured with coop for one year,there new quote was £70 over my other quotes, so I changed insurers and notified coop of the change, to be told
